Overview: The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) is seeking a manager for the Programs Department. The ACCJ Tokyo office hosts over 350 events annually. The events are hosted by the Chamber’s committees, subcommittees, task forces and advisory councils.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions:
- Oversee all events to ensure high quality, sound budgeting and member satisfaction.
- Supervise a team of committee coordinators
- Work with ACCJ leaders to develop new event formats, digital content types and delivery methods.

Professional Duties:
- The ALT visits elementary schools and junior high schools in Iwata City, carrying out the following professional duties:
- Visit each school according to the schedule made by the teacher supervisor.
- Provide assistance and support when team-teaching with English teachers in junior high school with the purpose of developing the communication skills of the students.
- Provide assistance and support when team-teaching with elementary school homeroom teachers.
- Advise about teaching and lesson planning.
- Individually coach junior high school speech contest representatives at respective schools.

Overview: The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is now recruiting for the Mike Mansfield Fellowship Program. This program provides up to ten federal employees with one year of professional development and networking opportunities in Japan. It was established by the U.S. Congress in 1994 to build a corps of U.S. federal government employees with proficiency in the Japanese language and practical, firsthand knowledge about Japan and its government.
The Mansfield Fellowship Program includes seven weeks of language training in Ishikawa Prefecture and ten months of professional assignments in the government of Japan. During the one-year program, Fellows will develop an in-depth understanding of Japan’s government and its policymaking process and create networks of contacts with their counterparts in the Japanese government, charitable, business, and academic communities.
Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to mid-career government employees with a professional interest in Japan. Successful candidates will join a diverse pool of Mansfield Fellows who currently serve in senior positions with the U.S. government.
