Overview of position: The TUJ Undergraduate Admissions Office is responsible for reviewing and processing all applications to the undergraduate programs, sending out admission decisions on a monthly basis, accurately entering and maintaining data in various information systems, and ensuring the smooth flow of student documents between departments. The SAF Program Coordinator (PC) works closely with the Program Development Manager to create, launch, and administer customized programs and SAF-developed study tours. This role is also responsible for facilitating the enrollment of SAF students into a portfolio of IES Abroad programs.
This includes coordinating student admissions processes with the Global Enrollment Management (GEM) team and IT, providing program information for the Marketing team, and for creating and delivering relevant pre-departure orientations. The PC provides comprehensive onsite coordination and support to students participating in SAF customized and study tour programs (up to 5 programs per year). In instances when in-person student engagement is needed on the West Cost, the PC may be asked to provide onsite support under the direction of SAF and IES Abroad Leadership.

The Japanese section at Clemson is steadily growing and includes majors in Modern Languages and Language and International Business as well as minors in Japanese Studies. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the program through interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching, advising students, extra-curricular activities, and assistance with the administration and expansion of the program. The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University seeks to make a tenure-track appointment at the rank of either assistant or associate professor in premodern Japanese literature and/or related humanities fields, to begin July 1, 2024. The search invites applications from scholars whose research focuses on pre-20th century topics and who are able to teach Kobun/Bungo.
We encourage applications from scholars with any area of specialization in the humanities, including those whose work is interdisciplinary, traverses multiple East Asian languages, and/or is comparative in method. We also welcome scholars whose work engages with forms of premodern language other than Kobun/Bungo and/or have expertise in related fields such as paleography, manuscript cultures, visual and performance cultures, and material history. Applications from early-career scholars are particularly welcome. The teaching expectation is normally four courses per academic year, plus service to the program.
Requirements:
- The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. at time of hire.
- Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Japanese.
