The Trip Development Coordinator supports the Trip Development team. This team is responsible for developing new group Expeditions and new Private Expeditions for National Geographic Expeditions. 

Responsibilities 

  • Trip Development Support: Support a team of Trip Development Manager(s) and Senior Manager(s) with aspects of the development process. Research NGS/NGM databases to identify NG content, research other tour operators and compile information into a competitive analysis, write day-by-day itineraries using standard templates, create budgets using templates, draft contracts and tour addendums using templates. Support Trip Development team with other projects/tasks as needed.
  • Draft proposals/itineraries and compile competitive analysis information.
  • Sales/Marketing Support: Create sales training materials and resources for programs that are accepted.
  • Sales training materials for call center staff.
  • Database and Resource Management: Enter and maintain accurate trip and supplier information into our database. Update templates and procedures as needed, and keep trip development resources up to date and organized.
  • Accurate information for efficient operations.

Qualifications 

  • B.A. degree and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training. Background in trip development, event planning, logistics, and international travel experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should also have the ability to clearly and effectively correspond with suppliers overseas where English is likely not their first language. Foreign language skills are a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel for program budgeting. Demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, find creative solutions to challenging situations and present complicated information in a clear and simple manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint and common Internet browsers and applications. A background using QuickBase or other databases or CRM software is a plus.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, able to multitask,and develop several proposals at the same time, across multiple destinations. Attention to detail is critical. Unwavering accuracy, excellent and systematic organizational skills and flawless attention to detail is necessary. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be willing to lend a hand with any urgent task that may arise. A willingness to be involved in every aspect of the trip development process is important.
