Summary: Eisugakkan Junior and Senior High School in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima, Japan is seeking to recruit a teacher to join the school, starting between January 5 and April 1, 2016. The focus of the curriculum is to develop individuals who can think and express their opinions, work cooperatively with persons with diverse values and beliefs, and maintain the desire to continue learning throughout their lives. The applicant NOT REQUIRED to reside in Japan they will sponsor or renew visa.

Salary and Work Schedule: Full-time, to eighteen 50 minute-classes/week, M-F 8:30am-4:30pm (Sat 8:30am-1pm as required according to scheduled school events). 3,500,000-4,500,000yen/year

RequirementsThe successful applicants will have the opportunity to undergo IB-DP Category 1 subject-specific training prior to his/her commencement at the school. This training may be undertaken at a convenient location to the candidate (3 days) or online via the International Baccalaureate internet site (1 month). The cost of this training will be reimbursed by the school upon commencement. After completing the Category 1 training, applicants will also be required to complete a short curriculum outline for their subject specialization.” “For teachers wishing to relocate with their families and wish to enroll their children at Eisugakkan, the tuition fee for the one child is free and half of the full-fee cost for the second child.” Three-year renewable contract with a one-year probation period.

Responsibilities:

  • Science + IB Theory of Knowledge Teacher – Junior High School + Y11-12 IB Diploma Programme
  • Will be required to teach some ESL classes from Y7-12
  • Lesson preparation and administrative duties
  • Overtime without extra pay may be required for events, event preparation, club activities and staff meetings
  • Teaching location 1.3 km from Daimon Station, Hiroshima. BA, teaching license, English proficiency sufficient to teach it as a second language up to advanced writing level, experience teaching at high school level or undergraduate university level, and computer/tablet/internet/social media skills required
  • ESL or English teaching methodology qualification, IB Diploma Programme teaching experience, basic Japanese speaking ability, team building and collaboration skills across cultures, high school teaching experience in Japan, and experience living in Japan preferred
