The Florence Site Director is responsible for all CISabroad programming and operations in Florence and in Perugia. Among the primary responsibilities for the Site Director are logistics and operations for semester and summer programs at Florence University of the Arts, ISI, and the Umbra Institute, program development, partner/university relations, and student support services. This position is perfect for an entrepreneurial, flexible, mature but fun, driven, energetic professional interested in a fun and personally rewarding career in the field of international education.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Student Support
    • Develop and implement an on site student engagement strategy taking into consideration the need to remain in close contact with students throughout their program, to maximize the student experience and to remedy any issues should they arise.
  2. Health and Safety
    • Mitigate and manage risks in the local environment, including potential issues on program excursions
    • Establish a local safety and emergency protocol
    • Communicate current and reliable information concerning health and safety to program participants and CISabroad Staff
    • Be available as a 24 hour contact, reachable by mobile phone when program participants, visitors, custom programs, and/or faculty-led programs are in need of services
    • Work closely with local resources, US-based Program Coordinator and/or emergency response team as problems or emergencies happen on site
  3. Program Development/Maintenance
    • Collaborate with US office to coordinate local/regional activities and accompany program participants on these activities
    • Lead the continuous improvement of all aspects of programming in Florence and Perugia including maintaining existing relationships with current Florence and Perugia partners
  4. Marketing and Promotion
    • Assist in updating and keeping accurate and compelling website content
    • Represent the CISabroad brand onsite and share engaging program content on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, etc.
    • Serve as the CISabroad representative when US partners are visiting the site to ensure that the program is favorably presented; help to coordinate these site visits
  5. Financial Management
    • Manage ongoing operational budget
    • Manage finances and submit monthly expense reports to supervisor
    • Plan and anticipate ongoing financial needs for CISabroad in Florence and Perugia

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree and study abroad experience
  • Experience working with U.S. student populations
  • 5 years (minimum) of professional work experience, preferably in higher education
  • In-depth knowledge of local culture, business practices, and academic environment
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Working knowledge of admin applications such as Excel, Skype, and Google
  • Possess strong organizational skills and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work legally in Italy

Working Conditions:

  • Fluctuating work schedule: generally Monday – Friday with some weekend work
  • During peak or transition periods daily/weekly schedule fluctuates
  • Work is high paced and goal oriented
  • Work-from-home (approx. 50%) flexibility

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically fit to walk and lead participants on program excursions
  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
