Overview: The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) is seeking a manager for the Programs Department. The ACCJ Tokyo office hosts over 350 events annually. The events are hosted by the Chamber’s committees, subcommittees, task forces and advisory councils.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions:
- Oversee all events to ensure high quality, sound budgeting and member satisfaction.
- Supervise a team of committee coordinators
- Work with ACCJ leaders to develop new event formats, digital content types and delivery methods.
- Monitor internal and external communication channels in an effective, timely and accurate manner.
- Plan, budget and forecast for the department
- Maintain event attendance and membership policies
- Design, execute and publicize large special events (e.g. the ACCJ Charity Ball, Shinnenkai and Women in Business Summit)
- Evaluate proposals from other departments, leaders, members, and external organizations.
- Liaise with charity organizations to coordinate the activities of the ACCJ Community Service Advisory Council.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience
- Graduate degree preferred (MBA or equivalent)
- Native English language speaker (Japanese language skills are a plus).
- Management experience in event planning and programming
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work at the center of multiple projects simultaneously with numerous stakeholders.
- Superior organizational skills
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask while prioritizing quality and customer service
- Experience and comfort with technology is a plus.
- Proficient with photography and videography.
