Texas Tech University and the International Engineering Programs Office for the Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) is looking for a dynamic and dedicated professional for our Unit Coordinator-Engineering Study Abroad Advisor position.

The Unit Coordinator reports to the director of International programs for the WCOE. This position supports the WCOE’s International Experience Initiative; launched in Fall 2013 all engineering students at TTU are required to have an international experience as part of their degree requirements. This position will support the WCOE in this endeavor and requires a great deal of cooperation, both across campus and with international institutions.

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Provides support in the coordination and supervision of programs in the area of international programs and assists students in selecting an international program activity that works with their major, international interests and other constraints.
  • Provides support to and communicates with WCOE’s International academic partners.
  • Develops and implements new international programs and projects.
  • Develops and implements workshops and classes to prepare student for study abroad activities.
  • Conducts accounts reconciliation for study abroad programs, which includes collecting and maintaining balance data and managing the balance process for reciprocal exchanges.
  • Advertises international programs by developing promotional and marketing materials. Expected to attend WCOE and IOA study abroad fairs and recruiting events. Coordinates FLP: logistics, planning, and implementation.
  • Coordinates the study abroad academic credit equivalency process with the WCOE lead academic advisor, faculty, and departmental advisors.
  • Works with the lead advisor to maintain and update pre-approved study abroad and course equivalency tables.
  • Maintains data and develops reports on study abroad and international program data.
  • Supports the study interface with the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Maintains and updates reconciliation of students in study abroad programs in coordination with OIA.
  • Maintains contact and communication with students, parents, and faculty involved in study abroad programs.
  • A small portion of the position provides academic registration to international students.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one (1) year related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five (5) years.
