Overview:

ISEP is currently seeking a full-time Director of Communications and Marketing located in our central office in Arlington VA (10 minutes from Washington DC). Founded in 1979, ISEP is a non-profit membership organization with over 300 partner institutions in 50 countries around the world. ISEP provides exchange and study abroad opportunities to over 3,400 students annually.

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the AVP of External Relations, the incumbent develops and oversees the implementation of an annual marketing & communication plan to support ISEP’s mission through print and web-based publications as well as social media outlets. Strategic outreach initiatives will promote ISEP programs to students and administrators worldwide while supporting ISEP’s growing network of member institutions.

Principal Accountabilities:
Marketing:
• Develop and maintain an annual marketing & communications plan in conjunction with ISEP’s strategic objectives.
• Position ISEP’s products and initiatives (i.e., Exchange & Direct enrollment programs, member support services, non-member opportunities, ISEP Events, social media, email, and website campaigns) for maximum visibility and yield.
• Create marketing tools that engage students and coordinators at member institutions throughout ISEP’s worldwide Network.
• Spearhead ISEP branding to reach desired audiences through effective messaging.
• In collaboration with Regional Directors, Director of Direct Programs and Director of Membership & US Member Relations, develop promotional efforts, materials, and training for ISEP Coordinators on a global level.
Communications:
• Develop and maintain an annual publication plan and budget.
• Oversee the design and production of all print- and web-based publications.
• Create project calendars and procedures for the updating of web-based tools and program information.
• Work with Graphic Designer & Social Media Specialist to liaison with external printers and graphic designers and manage mailing processes.
• Oversee development of the ISEP website to ensure maximum access to program enrollment, high visual impact, and a clear “call to action”
University and student Outreach:
• Help member institutions and students to identify with the ISEP brand and engage in ISEP Programs and services.
• Manage the ISEP Ambassador program.
• Develop and implement Alumni Relation initiatives in collaboration with Director of Membership & US Member Relations and Development Coordinator.
• Manage ISEP social media strategy.
• Develop and supervise Prospective Student recruitment initiative.
• Develop new ideas and vehicles to promote ISEP to prospective members and to leverage the Network in the international education field.
• Manage logistics for all ISEP Events through the Communications & Marketing Coordinator.
Research & Analysis:
• Analyze all print and electronic publications with regards to content, ease of navigation, and audience appeal.
• Research ISEP’s market position and competitor marketing initiatives.
• Review Google Analytics and provide weekly updates to supervisor.
• Provide quarterly reports to Executive Team on market analysis.
• Create queries and reports as needed.
• Develop, distribute, and assess staff, membership, and alumni surveys.
Other Duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise Graphic Designer & Social Media Specialist, Communications & Marketing Coordinator, and seasonal Interns.

Requirements:
Education:

  • BA/BS degree required, MA preferred in Communication, Marketing, International Education or related field.

Experience:

  • 5 – 7 years marketing and/or communications experience
  • At least 2+ years in international education preferred
  • Experience managing publication and marketing projects
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining budgets
  • Experience with Enrollment Management
  • Experience with Adobe CS3 InDesign, Photoshop and MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of marketing issues in international education
  • Study abroad and/or living abroad experience preferred
  • Experience writing copy for a variety of audiences
