Job Duties:

  • Work with professional staff as a team to manage a subset of programs, including faculty-led group programs of various lengths, non-exchange semester length programs, and exchange programs. For designated geographic regions, serve as the lead contact for NC State study abroad programs. Manage student exchange agreements for designated region. Serve as advisor for participants on designated study abroad programs: manage the complete program application and acceptance process for both outgoing students and incoming international exchange students. Coordinate and administer designated NC State faculty-led and other group programs, including: oversight of program budgets; marketing materials; emergency procedures; adherence to University and Office policies; and, in collaboration with faculty, overall program administration.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Associate Directors in developing and implementing new programs.
  • In conjunction with other Study Abroad Office staff, assist with pre-departure orientation programs for incoming students, trainings for program faculty directors, office-wide marketing events, and other duties as needed.
  • Represent NC State and the Study Abroad Office at state, regional, and national conferences, as needed. Represent NC State and Study Abroad Office on site visits to international partners and for program development, as needed.

Position-Specific Responsibilities:

1. *Regional Advisor for Southern Europe: Coordinate pre-departure orientations for all outgoing students, including planning, content oversight, arranging speakers as needed, and preparing all materials. Coordinate re-entry activities. Maintain and revise, as needed, outgoing student handbooks, both in print and online.
2. *Regional Advisor for Asia, Middle East and North Africa: Manage social media for office and special events, including annual Study Abroad Fair and New Student Orientation. Coordinate office presence at marketing and outreach events. Assist Associate Director for Curriculum Integration with overall office outreach efforts, marketing initiatives and events.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Experience: Master’s degree, or a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years professional experience in the field of international education.
Departmental Required Skills: Professional experience in the field of international education. Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of study abroad and exchange programs; experience in student or academic advising; experience studying, living, and/or working abroad. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking; computer proficiency. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Master’s degree. Previous experience working in a study abroad office and on a university campus strongly preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with programs in or other demonstrated expertise in designated geographic region of position (Southern Europe or Asia, primarily).
Previous study of a foreign language. Experience setting and managing program budgets. Experience using StudioAbroad software. Ability to prioritize workload, and adapt to changing demands and priorities. Demonstrated experience working in a team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate would possess both a high level of professionalism and work well in a demanding job environment; s/he would pay close attention to detail and be well-organized; exhibit empathy and enthusiasm in interactions with students; and have experience working with faculty.
