Salery: $40,000 – 45,000  

Overview:

Duties must be directly related to conducting, directing, or assisting in an academic program or academic unit, or directing or assisting with the direction of an academic advising office or center. These duties must comprise of at least 75% or more of the work assigned to the position.

The position must have primary responsibility for the administration of the program or unit. (Administrative work elements are considered secondary, non-academic, and must not exceed 25% of the work assigned.)

(Academic director positions located in an academic department or academic unit may use this title as a secondary appointment for faculty members serving as directors. Such appointments would remain secondary to the faculty appointment. )

(Faculty members holding this title as a secondary appointment are subject to those policies and procedures applicable to their primary appointment and retain faculty benefits.)

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with UC colleges, departments, other academic units, and individual faculty who lead departmental and institutional short-term education abroad programs with a fous on the logistical aspects of education abroad programming: housing, meals, airfare, etc.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to create new programs across colleges, departments, and units as well as with other universities and organizations.
  • Collaborate with faculty in preparing budgets, itineraries, and in minimizing health and safety risks to program participants along with communicating to faculty program policies, procedures, deadlines, etc.
  • Handle all monetary transactions including collection and disbursement of funds, credit card payments, wire transfers, and checks; advise faculty leaders on currency exchange rates.
  • Advise and assist faculty leaders with program promotion and recruitment.
  • Schedule and assist faculty leaders with pre-departure orientations for faculty-led programs.
  • Expand and maintain the current Faculty Leader Handbook.
  • Communicate with overseas colleagues and service providers to coordinate student services related to programs.
  • Communicate with other campus adminstrative units such as Financial Aid, Registrar, Professional Practice, etc.
  • Assist faculty leaders with visa and health and safety issues and be informed about UC policies and procecures; serve as one of the UC Authorized Persons for communications with International SOS.
  • Serve as a contact within UC International for parents of students on faculty-led programs.
  • Serve as a primary and emergency contact for the faculty leaders while the programs is on site.
  • Collaborate with faculty leaders on post-program assessment and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Academic positions will require specific educational credentials and experience related to the program for which the position is responsible
  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years experience in a university setting . Experience must be in international study abroad programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience living, studying, or working abroad. Knowledge of one or more languages other than English.
