Position: Outreach Coordinator, International Programs and Studies

Type: 12 month, full-time

Primary Function:

Working with the Study Abroad Office Associate Director and its advising staff, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the central Study Abroad Office’s overall promotion and recruitment plans for undergraduate study abroad programs.

Job Duties:
Management

  • Oversee study abroad Resource Room
  • Interview, train and supervise Study Abroad Peer Advisors
  • Manage Peer Advisor schedules, coordinate special projects, and set performance goals
  • Manage the Study Abroad Student Ambassador Program and the student returnee club

Promotion

  • In consultation with the Associate Director, lead in the creation and implementation of a study abroad office marketing and outreach strategy
  • Devise and implement effective methodologies to recruit students for study abroad programs
  • Participate in outreach to academic units which includes professors and academic advisors, in addition to student affairs units such as the Office of Minority Student Affairs and the Career Center
  • Develop and distribute the monthly study abroad newsletter
  • Manage the Study Abroad Office’s blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts
  • Organize International Week events for Study abroad including yearly photo contest
  • Plan and implement study abroad fairs in coordination with academic departments
  • Oversee branding process and maintenance

Assessment

  • Conduct surveys designed to understand student needs and monitor the success of outreach activities
  • Assess student satisfaction and overall program experience using campus-wide survey

Some travel and attendance at national/regional conferences when appropriate and related to Outreach initiatives

Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours

Organizational Relationship: 
The position reports directly to the Associate Director, Study Abroad Office who reports to the Director of the Study Abroad office who reports to the Associate Provost for International Affairs who reports to the Provost.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in field of marketing/communication/public relations
  • 3-5 years experience working in promotion/recruitment for study abroad
  • Strong knowledge of marketing principles and methods
  • Excellent skills in public speaking, oral and written communication
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, desktop publishing, InDesign, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience creating print and/or web-based marketing materials
  • Effective supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to be diplomatic
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and enthusiastically in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in field of marketing/communication/public relations
  • Film editing experience (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Experience studying, living or working abroad
  • Knowledge of university settings and relations between faculty, staff, and students

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Starting Date: As soon as possible after the close date.
