Overview:

Founded in 1868, the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater is a premier public regional university with an enrollment of over 12,000 students in 50 undergraduate majors, 13 master’s degree programs, and one specialist degree program.  It offers high-quality, career oriented programs with a model general education curriculum. UW-Whitewater is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System. Located in a community of 14,622 residents near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, Whitewater is within convenient driving distance to the metropolitan areas of Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago.

Responsibilities: 
The Assistant Director of the Center for Global Education (CGE) plays a prominent role in designing and managing programs and services that contribute to comprehensive internationalization at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In consultation with the CGE Director, the Assistant Director oversees day-to-day operations and policy implementation within some or all of the CGE’s major areas of service: education abroad; international enrollment management; international student, scholar and faculty services; international risk management; assessment; and operation of UW-Whitewater’s Intensive English Institute. The Assistant Director assists with program review and assessment and makes recommendations concerning strategic program development.

The Assistant Director manages the Center’s web and print communication strategies. The Assistant Director also plays a lead role in developing and implementing an intercultural development program for student cultural organization leaders, the CGE Global Ambassadors, and other campus partners.

The Assistant Director reports to the Director of the Center for Global Education. Although primarily a non-supervisory activity, program management requires the Assistant Director to coordinate work and assess results and quality within the unit. This position requires some evening and weekend responsibilities, especially for CGE events and when international visitors are on campus. Some domestic and international travel is required.

Qualifications: 

A Bachelor’s degree, five years of professional experience in the field of international education, and two years supervisory experience are required. A Master’s degree in a relevant field (Higher Education Administration, Intercultural Communication, etc.) and three or more years of experience supervising professional staff are preferred.
