Position: Senior Admissions Counselor, Summer Programs Abroad

Overview:

  • Work with Assistant Director for Summer Programs at SU Abroad to implement more than 40 summer programs.
  • Has lead responsibility for developing budgets.
  • Manage admissions process and student services.
  • Ensure coverage for on-campus recruitment, efficient application and post-acceptance processing, including preparation and timely distribution of program information and pre-departure materials, visa processing, registration, financial aid and billing functions for over 600 applicants and more than 400 participating SU and non-SU students.

Job Duties:

  • Work with Assistant Director for Summer Programs at SU Abroad and faculty to implement strategic marketing plan for promoting summer programs, including updating online directories, identifying relevant student listservs, identifying universities with relevant programs and potential off-campus audience.
  • Provide marketing materials to such off-campus audiences via outreach to department chairs, student alumni, or requesting summer staffing at fall study abroad fairs.
  • Research external scholarship opportunities for summer and create information flyers; work with Financial Aid to disseminate information about summer grants and awards, internal and external.
  • Oversee and coordinate mass mailings and distribution of summer materials with the recruitment and marketing teams.
  • Work with faculty and marketing team to create e-flyers for individual summer programs, and distribute to list-servs.
  • Prepare FAQs for each program for posting on web; review and monitor web information for accuracy and update as needed.
  • Develop and finalize program fee budgets for repeat summer and short-term programs, working with faculty and overseas staff/other agents as needed.
  • Manage summer on-campus recruitment schedule of information meetings and class presentations.
  • Manage summer admissions reporting and record keeping, sending weekly updates to Registrar, SU Abroad senior staff, overseas director, and individual faculty directing programs.
  • Research immigration/visa needs for students and communicate requirements to faculty, students, parents to ensure timely processing and delivery of visas to consulates and students.
  • Update and finalize pre-departure orientation and ‘preparing to go’ materials for each individual summer program, and ensure timely distribution to students and parents via web and print.
  • Prepare financial aid budgets and counsel students on financial aid options; work with Financial Aid to award tuition grants and process financial aid for non-SU students.
    Supervise production of accurate student registrations, billing invoices, and other summer counselor duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Director, Director of Programs, or Associate Provost.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years experience in study abroad university admissions, student services, or related field.

Excellent organizational and communication skills required.

Prior supervisory experience and international experience highly recommended.

Prior experience with PeopleSoft also recommended.
