PositionAdministrative Assistant, Public Affairs Section
Type: Full-Time
Location: Washington DC

Overview:

The Embassy of Japan is seeking an individual for the position of Administrative Assistant at the Public Affairs Section. The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation, a number of paid U.S./Japanese holidays, and sick leave. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 9:00am – 12:30pm, 2:00pm – 5:30pm
Lunch Break: 12:30pm – 2 pm
Lunch time receptionist duty: About once a month

Principal Responsibilities

  • Administrative work including managing the schedule of diplomats, answering phone calls, arranging appointments, and other assistant work
  • Assisting diplomats in the development and implementation of receptions, cultural events, meetings, and seminars
  • Developing itineraries and coordinating transportation for diplomats and guests
  • Drafting and proofreading letters, documents, and remarks for diplomats in English
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or green card holder
  • Fluent in English
  • Japanese language skills preferred
  • Computer skills such as the use of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience living or working in Japan preferred
