Position: Student Exchange Program Manager

Overview:

The Program Manager is responsible to implement all aspects of one or more of S4-H’s exchange programs (Short-term Inbound and/or Outbound) to ensure quality program execution. This position reports directly to the President in a small office environment (currently 4 staff members total) and is expected to be able to work independently. The ideal candidate is one who believes in the value of international student exchange and is passionate about enhancing global citizenship and cultural understanding.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate all aspects of international student exchange program(s) by providing daily operational administration. Major tasks include: liaison between US state coordinators and international partners, processing applications, student placement, coordinating travel, planning and conducting orientations, on-program support, program analysis and evaluation, financial record keeping and invoicing, and maintaining data.
  2. Develop and create educational and training materials for students, host families and coordinators, and promotional materials such as brochures and annual newsletters using desktop publishing. Maintain and develop organization’s website.
  3. Assist in the logistics of the annual Coordinators’ Conference including, but not limited to: preparing and compiling registration materials, working with hotel and vendors, coordinating travel, planning sightseeing excursions, etc.
  4. Provide assistance to the President as needed, including developing new exchanges, drafting correspondence and special research projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. BA or BS degree in education, business administration, communication, international relations, or a related field. Experience living or working abroad and proficiency in a foreign language (Spanish, Chinese, or Japanese) a plus.
  1. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and Power Point. Ability to combine and format complex documents with textual and graphic elements preferred. Proficiency in Adobe Pro and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  2. Minimum of 3 – 4 years work experience and demonstrated success in a complex administration, educational, non-profit or customer service environment. Previous experience in the student exchange sector preferred.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse multicultural community including successful conflict resolution techniques. Speaks clearly and persuasively in all situations with intercultural awareness while adhering to program policies.
  4. Extremely detail oriented and has strong organizational skills.
  5. Possess an excellent work ethic, attitude, and professionalism.
  6. Able to travel domestically 4-5 times per year (and on occasion, internationally) and adjust work schedule as required.
