Overview:

Arizona State University (ASU) is currently seeking a Management Intern within the Study Abroad Office (SAO).

The SAO is committed to enriching the academic experience at ASU by affording students the opportunity to develop the intercultural competence, transnational understanding, and leadership skills required to face global challenges. In cooperation with academic and service units, faculty, and staff, we provide comprehensive support services for the development, implementation, and coordination of academically sound, credit-bearing programs abroad that are accessible to ASU students across all disciplines.

Job Duties: 

The Management Intern position will provide professional level administrative support by assisting with general administration projects.  This position will be mentored by professional staff members in order to gain working knowledge and experience related to International Education. This position will report directly to an International Coordinator, Senior.

The Management Intern position within the SAO will support the application process for Partnership and Exchange programs in assigned regions (to be assigned) by monitoring, reviewing, processing, and forwarding student applications. Maintain records and prepare reports utilizing the Studio Abroad data management system. Serve as the main point of contact for partner universities and incoming exchange students from assigned regions. Provide administrative and student advising support to incoming exchange students from assigned regions throughout the application and arrival process on issues related to immigration, admission, housing, and registration. Recruit and advise for outbound study abroad programs in assigned regions. Support the facilitation of program-specific orientations for incoming and outgoing study abroad participants in assigned regions by generating materials and coordinating logistics. Participate in at least one critical pan-office team, as assigned.  Current teams include Student Orientation and Reentry, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Assessment. Complete special projects/research related to office initiatives, as assigned. Represent the office at campus events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Master’s degree in a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of study abroad program offerings including faculty directed, inbound and outbound exchange, and provider programs. Experience in: living, studying or working internationally; PeopleSoft and/or Studio Abroad data management systems; Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel  Outlook); working with a diverse population; developing  and maintaining effective working relationships; taking initiative and working independently; maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
