Position: Manager of Overseas Admissions Counseling (Student Recruiting) based in Tokyo

Overview Position:
Lead and manage the Overseas Admissions Counseling Office which is responsible for all aspects of recruiting students from overseas for TUJ’s Undergraduate Program and assist in achieving the university’s targets and goals

Primary Responsibilities:
•Develop and execute overseas recruiting strategies.
•Increase the number of inquiries and applications for the Undergraduate Program while improving the overall quality of new students.
•Supervise and coach other members of the Overseas Admissions Counseling team.
•Manage the budget for Overseas Admissions Counseling.
•Provide information about TUJ programs to prospective students, parents, teachers, administrators at high schools and community colleges, and others.
•Plan, organize, and complete recruiting trips overseas throughout the year visiting high schools, community colleges, and international schools, and attending conferences and fairs.
•Attend open campus sessions, receptions, and events in Japan.
•Coordinate special recruiting events such as summer programs for high school students and visiting groups.
•Plan and manage admissions scholarships.
•Provide individual admissions counseling via e-mail, telephone calls and in person, and follow-up with prospective students, parents and counselors.
•Advise students and families on admissions procedures, housing, and living in Japan.
•Build and maintain relationships with Japanese teachers, school counselors, international partners and overseas students.
•Maintain updated undergraduate print and web publication materials in English, working with the Communications office to create new content as needed.
•Work closely with the Domestic Admissions Counseling team and other departments.
•Report to TUJ’s Associate Dean, Enrollment Management.

Qualifications & experience: •Bilingual (English/Japanese) candidate desirable, but other candidates considered
•Experience in working in international admissions and/or student recruiting in higher education is preferred
•Strong computer skills (Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required
•Experience in marketing (especially social media marketing) and management
•Strong leadership and innovative and creative thinking skills
•Graduate of a U.S. university preferred or familiarity with college study in the U.S. or Canada
•Minimum of five years work experience
•Friendly, customer-focused, and professional
•Ability to travel internationally for extended periods, especially in the fall and spring
•Valid driver’s license with authorization to drive in the United States

Salary/Benefits:
Fifteen days paid vacation in the first year increasing to 24 days after 6 years of employment, plus 5 paid “personal and sick days” each year. In addition, approximately two weeks company-wide break over Christmas/New Year, Japanese social insurance and pension, commuting allowance, and tuition benefits for Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) programs.
