Jobs: 4 JET-relevant openings at CSI (Kentucky and Nagoya)

Thanks to JETAA Bluegrass Subchapter Rep Roy Harrison, who also works for CSI, a Lexington, KY company owned by JET alum Thad Johnson (Hyogo-ken, 2000-01) which employs several other JET alums, for sharing these four (4) JET-relevant job openings at CSI.  The company works with Japanese firms looking to strengthen their positions and capabilities in the North American market. They consult in three fields: language training, translation, and technical support.

1.  Bilingual Legal Translator/Interpreter (Japanese-English)

We’re looking for a motivated, bilingual translator/interpreter with in-depth legal knowledge and excellent communication skills to provide support in our legal department.

In this position, you must be well versed in legal material, especially immigration documentation. Within this area you will be responsible for translating legal documents and will also be expected to serve as a liaison to all parties involved in the case. You will be a vital link in the management chain, providing support and communication to individuals who need their paperwork processed timely and completely, in addition to interpreting for business-related activities.

A candidate for this position must have at least 5 years of legal translation experience, be a certified translator with the ATA, and possess JLPT level 1 proficiency. Translation samples are required at the time of résumé submission.  The candidate must also be proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite, be confident in your language abilities, and be willing to work overtime when the project requires it. 2.  Bilingual Administrative Professional

We’re looking for a bilingual administrative professional with a great attitude, in-depth knowledge of office procedures, dogged persistence, expert communication skills, and the utmost discretion. From on-site translation and creation of sensitive documents to the dissemination of essential information to key team members, our ideal candidate will be committed to doing whatever it takes to get the job done right. You’ll interact with all levels of management while providing critical administrative support to keep things moving forward; you should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position requires heavy usage of Excel and Word; it is also essential that you are comfortable evaluating high volumes of data in order to discern the critical points.  You need to be proficient in typical office software packages, have proven strong organizational skills, and be enthusiastic about working across cultural boundaries. The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment with a varied workload. We need a quick learner and great communicator who works well under pressure. 3 years of necessary experience is not required but is advantageous.

3.  Japanese/English Translator and Interpreter

We’re looking for a motivated, bilingual translator/interpreter with excellent communication skills to provide support to management in an automotive environment.

In this position, you will translate documents, such as e-mails and meeting notes, and will also be expected to serve as an interpreter at meetings and on conference calls. You will be a vital link in the management chain, providing support to busy executives in a fast-paced environment. In addition to interpreting for business-related activities, you may also be called upon for personal support issues such as assisting executives in procuring emergency health care, transportation, and accommodation.

You must be proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite, be confident in your language abilities, and be willing to work overtime when the project requires it. 4.   Japanese Teacher in Japan

Our quickly growing company is looking for a part-time Japanese language instructor in the Nagoya area. We provide business-Japanese lessons for mid-career professionals from Europe, Australia, and North America working for one of the largest firms in the world.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
-Native-Japanese language skills
-Exceptionally strong English language skills
-Experience teaching Japanese
-Experience living outside Japan
-Flexible schedule / Able to teach morning/noon/night

This is a part-time position, with the potential to become full-time for the right candidate.
