Sister Cities International is a leader for local community development and volunteer action. We motivate and empower private citizens, municipal officials and business leaders to conduct long-term sister city programs. We believe that sister city programs involve two-way communication and should mutually benefit partnering communities.

General Summary:
A main service of Sister Cities International (SCI), as a membership association, is to provide grants and program opportunities for our local sister city members. This position would work directly with the President and CEO to implement grant-seeking strategy and provide the necessary research, writing, and budget management skills for successful grant capture and implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports to the President & CEO.

Grant Capture and Development
•Submit letters of intent and full proposals to grant opportunities that align with Board priorities and member needs;
•Oversee individual donor campaigns, including the Annual Appeal process: draft of letter, coordinate compilation of materials and mailing;
• Conduct research to identify potential grant funding sources from local and nationally based private foundations, corporate foundations, and
federal government agencies for operational and project-specific funding;
• Write, edit and format grant proposals, foundation reports and other funding correspondence;
• Maintain database of foundation and government donors and award files;
• Assist with providing educational opportunities for SCI members to help build grant-seeking capacity among the membership throughout the year and
at convenings;
• Work with the President & CEO to develop grant-seeking strategy;
• Manage current relationships and identify and approach new prospects for cultivation and solicitation;
• Oversee event-specific sponsorship outreach for all SCI events;
• Assist President & CEO with improving SCI’s visibility on Capitol Hill and within Federal agencies by coordinating meetings and materials
throughout the year;
• Additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
•Proven success in securing foundation, government, and corporate funding;
•Experience in collaborating with finance and program teams in the preparation of program budgets, budget modifications, and preparation of
financial reports;
•Detail-oriented individual with the ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and work with minimal supervision;
•Solid inter-personal skills to manage relationships with SCI members, donors, and staff.
•Working knowledge of budget preparation and management;
•Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience with the “full-cycle” grantee process. Master’s Degree preferred but not required;
•Knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.
