Digital marketing plays an increasingly important role in disseminating corporate messages and enforcing Marsh’s image as a thought leader in the risk and insurance industry. As a result, Marsh seeks a director of External Digital Marketing & Communications with a strong background in producing business results by creating forward-looking digital marketing campaigns and innovative digital marketing strategies. This position offers an opportunity to take a FORTUNE 500 company to the next level in digital marketing by working in a variety of business lines and topic areas globally.
The External Digital Marketing & Communications Director will help achieve Marsh’s goal to be an elite firm through flawless execution of digital marketing campaigns and a focus on implementing emerging technologies and new digital marketing techniques. The Director will oversee all external digital properties globally, working with a central U.S.-based digital marketing and development team and a network of Regional Digital Marketing Managers from across the world.
In this role, the External Digital Marketing & Communications Director will have exposure to senior-level members of the company, and a central role in managing Marsh’s digital strategy for clients, prospects, and leads.
This position will report directly to the global director, Digital Marketing, Internal Digital Communications & CRM.
The External Digital Marketing & Communications Director will:
•Craft best-in-class digital strategies to help Marsh marketing, country, and practice leaders deliver messages to clients, cultivate known prospects, and generate leads.
•Create, win approval for, and implement strategies to apply emerging technologies and digital marketing practices at Marsh.
•Complete the digital foundation begun by creating a common template and content management system for the marsh.com country sites.
•Create a client-facing side of marsh.com, integrating the current MarshConnect extranet with marsh.com
•Use Marsh’s Salesforce CRM to help cultivate leads and drive the right information to the right recipients.
•Create and implement a global strategy to take email marketing program to the next level.
•Develop and refine Marsh’s global social media strategy.
•Work with central team Regional Digital Managers to oversee external digital properties, including apps, web, email, and social, on a daily basis.
•Identify and make use of opportunities for innovation and efficiency
•Analyze results and share with clients
•Ensure timely completion of all requests
•Manage a small central team of Digital Marketing specialists
•At least five years experience managing web and email marketing campaigns in a corporate environment.
•Hands-on experience creating web and email campaigns. Experience with Web CMSes, ExactTarget and Salesforce a strong plus.
•Strong working knowledge of HTML.
•Hands-on knowledge of major social media platforms.
•Deep knowledge of best practices in digital marketing.
•Ability to manage many projects at once.
•Good people management skills.
•Good writing and communications skills.
•Ability to take the lead on projects, or be a strong supporting team player.
•Ability to accomplish goals in a matrixed organization, working with colleagues of varying backgrounds and interests.
•Proactive, flexible, and a quick learner.
•Multi-language capability is a plus.
