Job Position: Associate Director of International Program Programs

Job Details:

The Associate Director of International Programs is responsible for administering international programs and opportunities offered through Chicago Booth. This position involves significant student contact, marketing and recruiting student participation, advising students on program options and promoting other international opportunities as appropriate.

This person will be responsible for managing the admissions process for the International Business Exchange Program (IBEP) and the enrollment process for the International MBA Program (IMBA). In addition, this person will assume additional duties of academic advising in Academic Services.

With the Associate Dean and Dean of Students, this person will help develop new programming and implement appropriate policies and strategies for more effective service to students, including maintenance of cooperative relationships with our partner schools, with other university departments, and with our students.

With the director of Academic Services, this person will advise students in the general MBA population about curricular matters, co-curricular opportunities, and personal difficulties as they arise.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as the primary internal contact for Chicago Booth students in all MBA programs interested in participating in IBEP, the IMBA degree, and other international program offerings.
2. Have responsibility for the budget for International Programs, including full authority to plan and propose the annual budget allocation.
3. Market and promote international program offerings through emails, websites, information sessions and student events.
4. Manage IBEP admissions process including evaluating applications, processing admissions, organizing pre-departure and student re-entry activities, and monitoring program enrollment.
5. Advise and coordinate activities for incoming exchange students including admissions, orientation to Chicago Booth and the UChicago campus and culture, supervising registration, and providing assistance in the event of bureaucratic, diplomatic, or health emergencies.
6. Manage IMBA enrollment process and advise students on degree requirements.
7. Promote appropriate international opportunities made available by peer institutions or external organizations, such as Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, Interstate Program, international case competitions, etc.
8. Work to enhance cultural awareness within Chicago Booth by promoting international events on the UChicago campus, international career opportunities, or other relevant programming.
9. Advise students in the general population on academic, co-curricular and personal matters.
10. Assume project work in Academic Services as assigned.
11. Other related duties as assigned.

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS:
1. Feedback from students, faculty and other exchange program directors.
2. Effectiveness and efficiency of program operations and related projects.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Director of Academic Services and the Associate Dean and Dean of Students

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. BA or a minimum of 7 to 10 years relevant work experience required; MA or MBA preferred.
2. Experience with international education and study abroad programs required; experience working with international programs within an MBA program preferred; student affairs, career services or corporate work environment preferred.
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
4. Proven ability to respond to MBA student and administrative inquiries promptly and effectively required.
5. Demonstrated ability to balance tasks and realign priorities in relation to regularly evolving activities and demands required.
6. Experience in a foreign culture and/or knowledge of a foreign language preferred.
7. Proficiency in MS Office required.
8. Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
9. Willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
