Job Position: Japanese Global Scholars Coordinator
Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS), The University of Oregon

Job Details:

The Japanese Global Scholars Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting students, managing budgets, creating communications materials, and working with various units on and off campus to develop and implement the Japanese Global Scholars Program. The appointment will be within the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS), but effective communication and collaboration with the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures (EALL) will be essential.

Essential responsibilities include:

1. Program Administration

  • Track program and student data information for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Manage expenditures to comply with approved budgets
  • Coordinate annual language assessment tests and reporting
  • Work with director and partners across campus to develop a sustainable and high-quality program
  • Communicate with Housing, Financial Aid, Honors College, and a variety of academic departments
  • Develop application systems and materials
  • 2. Student Life & Recruiting Activities

  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan
  • Develop program website, brochure, and promotional materials for school, students, and families
  • Communicate effectively and persuasively with high school guidance counselors, students, and parents
  • Provide students with clear, transparent, and timely communications
  • Maintain information systems for reporting
  • Coordinate program introduction and orientation, course enrollment, study year abroad, and student-run activities
  • Provide objective and accurate administration of the merit-based scholarship
  • 3. Study Abroad

  • Coordinate study abroad application process, planning, preparation, and scholarship workshops
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience in educational setting
  • Demonstrated communications skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Japanese language proficiency
  • Language teaching experience
  • Graduate degree
  • Program administration experience
