Job Summary
To handle dealer telephone inquiries and product questions in a timely, accurate and professional manner, analyze sales data and make proactive sales accordingly, maintain and update order entries, and resolve discrepancies in orders and billing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Other duties may be assigned.  All of the following are to be performed while adhering to OR operational policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Respond in a professional and positive manner to all telephone inquiries and call backs related to OR products including; providing customers with product information, answering product questions, answering product status questions and all other service questions.
  • Check Customer Service voice-mail boxes.            
  • Accurately enter customer orders taken from phone, fax, internal order forms and e-mail; including preseason customer orders.
  • Ensure accuracy of pick tickets, phone logs, orders, returns, billing, customer accounts, and all other related transactions.            
  • Process new dealer credit applications and route to Accounts Receivable Specialist.
  • Interact with Sales and Marketing staff, including Independent Sales Reps, to achieve sales goals.  Communicate with the Shipping department to ensure quality customer service. Coordinate with Inventory Control to ensure product availability.
  • Open Pro Purchase Accounts, maintain file, send Pro Purchase packet and update each year.
  • Returns – Issue RA numbers, track and provide solutions. 
  • Continually asses work flow and systems and inform Manager of any potential efficiency improvements.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other professionals in the industry. 
  • Gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of all OR products through participation in on-site and off-site product training events and clinics. 
  • Arrive on time, prepared for daily staff meetings.
  • May assist in trade shows preparations, twice a year. This may include travel to the trade show 4-7 days a year.

Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, education, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND six months to a year of customer service related experience and/or training. 
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. 
  • Familiarity with Outdoor Research products or with the outdoor industry a plus.  
  • Good computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing, and 10-key by touch.  
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality record.  
  • Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse work force.  
  • Periodic travel as required.

Language Skills                             
Excellent written, verbal, and phone skills.  Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate fluently in English.
