Location: Ohio
Date posted: 2/5/2009

WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY seeks a Director of its East Asian Institute for International Studies. Reporting to the Provost, the Director will provide innovative administrative leadership, develop gift and grant proposals, and oversee funded projects – initially the development of field experience partnerships (study abroad and internships) in East Asia to support an interdisciplinary international business and economics curriculum. In collaboration with the Associate Provost for International Engagement and Experiential Learning, the Director will help establish new and sustain existing relationships with other colleges and universities, businesses, government agencies, consortia, and other public and private entities to support and enhance the Institute and Wittenberg’s nationally recognized East Asian Studies academic program. The institutional strategic plan calls for the expansion of study abroad and internship programs that provide robust experiential learning opportunities within the context of the liberal arts. The Director also administers the Institute’s consulting services to individuals and corporations doing business in East Asia and workshops, cultural programs, and outreach activities offered to the campus and local community.

This 12-month administrative position minimally requires a M.A. in a related discipline, Ph.D. preferred, and experience in international business, government service, or an international NGO, preference to candidates with experience in East Asia.
