The Consulate General of Japan in New York is currently seeking to hire a local employee in the Finance Division. To apply, please submit the required documents (see 6. below) to the e-mail address below by November 7, 2024. For more details, please see the recruitment guide below.
1. Work hours:
a. Monday through Friday (except holidays), 9:15 am to 6:00 pm (1 hour lunch break)
b. Leave system: Weekends off (Sat. and Sun.), days the consulate is closed, and annual paid vacations.
c. Benefits and compensation: Approximately $50,000 per year, determined based on education, work experience and other qualifications. Medical and dental insurance coverage available (with some self-payment)
d. Place of work: Consulate-General of Japan in New York
2. Date of adoption: December 2024 (tentative schedule)
3. Duties:
a. The Finance Division is responsible for researching macroeconomic and financial trends in the U.S. and explaining Japanese monetary and fiscal affairs, etc. to American investors. Specific duties of the successful candidate will include the following:
b. Conduct executive secretarial duties.
c. Manage the schedule of the division’s internal staff.
d. Coordinate dates and locations for meetings with external parties, regular meetings with financial institutions and others.
e. Handle the needs of business travelers to the region (lodging, transportation, itinerary and other arrangements)
f. Act as contact person for general inquiries from outside the organization.
g. Assist in the preparation of documents and clerical work.
h. Execute other duties deemed necessary by the Consulate General.
4. Qualifications: U.S. permanent resident status or U.S. citizenship.
5. Qualifications required for the job:
a. Proficiency in Japanese and English (especially native level Japanese).
b. General office work skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Email, etc.
c. Ability to prepare arrangements and procedures appropriately, and to carry out paperwork accurately.
d. Highly cooperative and polite. Punctuality is essential.
