Description: DLS is currently seeking Japanese Language Training Instructors to teach Japanese language and culture to personnel who may or may not be affiliated with the United States Government; prepare and submit lesson plans for each student; prepare progress and test reports; and conduct ongoing assessment to provide students with feedback about their progress.

We are recruiting to fill upcoming opportunities at our schools in Arlington (VA), Herndon (VA), and Elkridge (MD), as well as for online and hybrid instruction opportunities.

Instructional Expectations:

  1. Attends a new or re-hire orientation and at least 1 professional development training session per year to ensure DLS policies and procedures are practiced.
  2. Uses student-centered methods and the communicative approach while instructing all students.
  1. Incorporates technology tools (LMS, e-materials, etc.) when appropriate to enhance the learning environment.
  2. Enters time and student attendance accurately; reports schedule changes, absences, and planned days off according to DLS policy.
  3. Regularly communicates with the Language Training Supervisor to discuss each student’s progress to ensure goals are met and that academic interventions are made (as needed) in a timely manner.
  4. Serves as a mock tester and contributes to other academic activities such as language immersions, curriculum development, and cultural events.
