The Consulate General of Japan is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented candidate for the position of Secretary at Consulate General of Japan in Miami.


  • Fluency in English language with good communication skills, Spanish Language proficiency is preferred.
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. Green card holder.
  • Responsibility, Teamwork skills, Ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft office.

Job Summary

  • Manage the schedules and daily activities of the Consul-General and other Consuls.
  • Make appointments, develop itineraries, arrange meetings, assist in organizing events, and coordinate transportation for the Consul-General and other Consuls.
  • Maintain/ update contact databases, send invitations, count responses and respond to inquiries.
  • Follow Florida’s Political and Economic news.
  • Other responsibilities as needed and instructed by the Consul-General and diplomats.

Location of Work: Consulate General of Japan in Miami
80 S.W. 8th Street, Suite 3200, FL

Date and period of employment: April 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024 (12 months); Renewable if completed with good working performance

Employment Conditions

  • Working hours: 7.5 hours a day from 9:00am-17:30pm with an hour of lunch break,
  • Monday through Friday, except for Consulate’s holidays. Occasional overtime work is required for special events held in the evening or holidays.

  • Salary is commensurate with experience.
