1.JETAA Rocky Mountain
When: Saturday, September 30 at 4:30 PM MDT
Where: Chautauqua Park in Boulder, the lower park area near Baseline Road. We will be flying our JETAARM Nobori Flags and should be easy to spot.

Join us in wishing an “okaerinasai” to the recently returned JETs at our Tsukimi picnic! Friends and family are welcome to join us for , tabemono (food), hot tea and, of course, moon viewing!

2. JETAA UK
Leicester Japan Club ‘Sushi and Sword’
When: Saturday, September 30 at 1 PM – 3 PM UTC+01

The Leicester Japan Club are organising a talk on Japanese swords and history by Joe Robey from the King Richard III Visitor Centre (he will bring his colelction of Japanese swords) on Saturday 30th September from 1pm until 3pm at the University of Leicester. There will also be sushi @ £5 a head and a chance to buy sweet Japanese bread.

An impromptu picnic in the springtime sunshine under the blooming cherry blossoms. Bring a plate, bring your friends and family, and bring a blanket to sit on!

Japanese Film Festival Mini Newcastle

The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is presented and run by The Japan Foundation, Sydney and is now an established calendar event. The JFF started in 1997 with three free film screenings in Sydney and has expanded to 10+ cities. The JFF Mini is a touring component of JFF delivering quality contemporary Japanese cinema to regional centres across Australia.
FREE ADMISSION! Seats are limited.
Ticket reservations open one hour prior to screening and are available at Tower Cinemas box office. For example, tickets to ‘Creepy’ will be available from 6pm.

Welcome back JET Potluck!

You’re all invited to a welcome back party in your honor at Webmaster Becca’s house in Allston. Come ready to talk about your JET experience, meet the NEJETAA board members, and enjoy some food!

Japan Program – Alumni Led Application Workshop
When: Saturday, October 21 at 1 PM – 3 PM

Are you planning to apply for a position on the prestigious Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program this year? The application will be available online from late September through November 9th. Before hitting the “submit” button on your application; though, take advantage of this FREE workshop hosted at the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute. The workshop will focus on navigating the sometimes complex application process and help participants present themselves in a way that honestly highlights their potential to be an asset to the JET Program. Former JET Coordinator John Gale (Johnsensei) will lead the workshop with support from other area alumni.

Transitions 2017: Career Event
The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the JET Alumni Association will be hosting its annual fall event, “Transitions 2017: Opportunities Forum & Networking Expo“. This program was created specifically to serve our members by providing guidance and support to returning JETs as they acclimate to life back home. However, over the years as our alumni chapter has grown and matured, Transitions has likewise evolved in order to offer valuable programing for all of our members who may be seeking new opportunities or exploring new career options.

Halloween meets a traditional Japanese festival at this eerie and exciting event for kids. This year’s bash, Spirits of the Misty Sea, will highlight traditional tales of Japanese ghosts and goblins. JETs are invited to help work the activities which include a puppet performance on the mainstage, traditional Japanese games, arts & crafts, face-painting, a haunted adventure tour and more! A bento lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Costumes are encouraged!
