The Center for Global Education, part of the Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has an opening for a Public Relations Specialist. The position is responsible for outreach and marketing of study abroad across all Rutgers schools. Please encourage any of your recent grads with international experience who are currently working in communications, marketing, or a related field to apply.
The Public Relations Specialist reports to the GAIA Public Relations Specialist and is responsible for:
- Educating students, parents, faculty, and staff about the international opportunities available through Center for Global Education (CGE)
- Developing an overall marketing strategy for CGE both on the Rutgers campuses as well as nationally and internationally
- Designing online and printed materials, plans and executes several large-scale events; information sessions throughout the academic year on Rutgers’ various schools and campuses; including periodic events at Rutgers–Newark and Rutgers–Camden
- Assessing marketing efforts through various benchmarks, with the ultimate goal of increasing student applications for CGE programs. Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
- Requires proficiency in Chicago Manual of Style and Rutgers editorial style.
- Knowledge of layout and design for brochures, websites, flyers, and newsletters, including knowledge of design and publishing programs such as: Adobe Photoshop, In Design, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sakai, Adobe Connect, Adobe Studio Abroad, Adobe InDesign Prezi, and others.
- Familiarity and comfort with all forms of social media.
- Must be able to work autonomously and manage time.
- Ability to use Windows and Mac computers.
Preferred Qualifications: International experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and advanced HTML coding.
