Position: Japanese Language Tutor

International Community School (Secondary) is an independent International Baccalaureate World School located in central London providing a dynamic learning community for 11 to 17 year old learners. Normally 2 hours a week (more hours may be available) during school terms (Actual working hours as agreed).

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the delivery of the IB Diploma Language A or B courses at SL/HL at the school.
- Work collaboratively within and across departmental structures in the school
- Teach classes in accordance with the curriculum guidelines
- Prepare yearly schemes of work as well as termly and unit plans for the classes to be taught and report these back to home languages coordinator and second in charge (2i/c) to coordinator
- Planning is based on a thorough knowledge of students’ achievements and their strengths and weaknesses.
- Attend meetings with Head of department
Qualifications
- Japanese Language Teaching qualification is essential
- Experience teaching at Secondary School level ( language and literature)
- Native Speaker level in written and spoken English
- Ability to provide dynamic, motivational, learner centered, interdisciplinary classroom activities
- High level of communication, teaching and presentation skills
- Strong ICT skills
- Ability to differentiate lessons to a variety of learning styles and ability levels
- High level of time management skills
- Ability to maintain appropriate standard of discipline in classroom
- Ability to show initiative and contribute new ideas
- Ability to self brief in areas of curriculum and new pedagogical developments
- Ability to set a high standard of leadership in the classroom
