Overview: Can-Star Academy is a cozy learning center located in the center of Richmond. We offer educational counseling programs and tutoring services to high school students in the Lower Mainland. Can-Star is a big family of more than 20 part-time & full-time teachers/tutors who hold the same teaching philosophy. We teach to make a difference, and to help all students reach their fullest potential by opening gateways through education. Our teaching is fun, passionate and always aims to inspire. 

Programs  

English: ELL,ESL, English 10, 11 & 12, IELTS, TOFEL, SAT, SSAT, LPI
Mathematics: Math 10, Pre-Cal 11 & 12, AP Calculus
Science: Science, Physics, Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Chemistry
Arts: Socials 10, Socials 11, Economics, Accounting

Vacancies 

Vacancies:  1 Full time Teaching Positions * We accept resumes from all disciplines. With your permission, we will call  in the future if there is a job opening.

Term: Part time (4 — 20 hrs/Week), flexible hours depending on availability, minimum three month commitment

Full time (30-36 hrs/ Week), 1pm – 8:30pm, five days a week with some variation

Permanet position

Start date: October ( As soon as possible)

Workplace: Richmond

Compensation: Hourly rate starting at $22.50, more for candidates with teaching experience and advanced degrees

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching material & curriculum 
• Work with students one-on-one or in a small group
• Provide report card every month, communicate and work with school staff to help  students improve in the subject taught                                                                   
• Help prepare test papers if necessary

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree
• Familiarity with exams like Provincial/ AP/ SSAT/ IELTS is an asset
• Passion for teaching youth is a must
• Solid writing and communication skills
• Personal qualities: positive, results-oriented, organized, and responsible
• Familiarity with university or college applications is a plus
• B.C. certified teacher candidate a plus
• TESL certificate is a plus
• Teaching experience with social sciences such as Social Studies, Economics and Accounting is a plus
