Job Description Summary:
The International Student Liaison (ISL) is responsible for the stewardship and success of the international students enrolled in the School of Business. They are primarily responsible for oversight of the student visa acquisition process, and are a key bridge between academic program managers within the school of business and the central International Services Office. In addition, the ISL is responsible for developing and executing a network of support programs (institutes, orientations, and social and co-curricular activities) that enrich the international student experience and encourage the development of a robust global community. The ideal candidate has working knowledge of the laws and regulations that guide the non-immigrant visa process and as well as the ability to be a thought leader guiding implementation of best practices for international student services in the school.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus two years (2) of appropriate experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Degree in International Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field preferred.
Proficiency in English and at least one another language is preferred.
Prior experience living, working, or studying abroad as well as experience with professional or graduate education.
Prior experience with international student exchange is preferred.
Experience working with international students, including an understanding of the F, J, H-1B Visa requirements and processes.
Experience working with data management tools such as SEVIS, Studio Abroad, and ApplyYourself(AY).

Job Duties
Function:
Maintains a school-based system to facilitate the processing of paperwork required to sponsor student immigration to the United States. Serves as primary point of contact and liaison with the International Services Office for students who are degree seeking, dual-degree, and non-degree formal exchange participants for six graduate business programs and their administrators.
Function:
Manages the graduate internship program and any GWSB compliance requirements for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) approval including student registration, collection of academic requirements, and development and implementation of supplemental workshops and trainings in coordination with the F. David Fowler Career Center and the International Services Office.
Serves as organizational lead for co-curricular programming including student and professional mentor programs, social programming, and student advisory boards. Plays an active role in supporting relevant student groups and organizations.
Provides administrative support for new student orientations and bring new, innovative ideas and approaches that can continually improve and renew these programs to best prepare students for success in their programs at GWSB.
Function:
Provides support for current student challenges as they arise, coordinating when appropriate with academic advising staff, faculty, and administrators leveraging the full available resources of the School, University, and community to assist in the timely resolution of their issues.
Function:
Develops and maintains relationships with University offices that serve our international population including but not limited to the International Services Office, International Programs Office, and fellow professional schools; actively seek to expand this network.
Serves as a team-focused thought leader on international student and scholar services by keeping apprised of successful practices in the field of international education and applying those practices in the GWSB.

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
(3) Internship with the University of Melbourne North America Office (DC)
The University of Melbourne North America (NAO) office is currently seeking an intern to support the staff with marketing, communications, and recruitment activities.
The internship is available starting September 2015, and will be managed out of UM’s North America office. The duration of the internship will be 3 months in length. The intern program will be on a full-time basis (approximately 35 hours per week), requiring some travel throughout the US and Canada. The intern will be paid a negotiated monthly stipend of $1,500-2,000 depending on education and experience.
Summary of duties:
The NAO intern would assist the office in student recruitment, enquiry management, and marketing and communications activities during the fall recruitment season. The intern would also assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Supporting the NAO with lead and enquiry management
-Organizing NAO presence at recruitment fairs
-Promoting recruitment activities through the NAO website, social media channels
-Developing a newsletter for key partners
-Attending recruitment events such as fairs, seminars and student appointments as necessary
-Assistance with market research and writing reports
-Providing support for events including registration, logistics, management and follow up
-Other tasks as required by the NAO and/or based on intern interest
Requirements:
The successful candidate will ideally:
-Have completed at least three years of college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.2, or possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
-Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
-Have a strong attention to detail.
-Have the ability to work independently and in a small team.
-Have education and/or work experience in area such as higher education, international education, communications, media, business or a related field
-Be comfortable utilizing multiple technology platforms.
-Ability to travel throughout the US and Canada
-Have a genuine interest in an opportunity to work within marketing, communications, international education or alumni relations.
-Have studied in Australia, or have studied abroad in another destination.
