Status: Approximately 35 hours per week
Overview: The University of Melbourne (UM) is a research intensive university located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. UM is represented with offices in seven countries providing engagement, marketing, recruitment and advancement/alumni support to the home campus. The University of Melbourne North America (NAO) office is currently seeking an intern to support the staff with marketing, communications, and recruitment activities.
The internship is available starting September 2015, and will be managed out of UM’s North America office. The duration of the internship will be 3 months in length. The intern program will be on a full-time basis (approximately 35 hours per week), requiring some travel throughout the US and Canada. The intern will be paid a negotiated monthly stipend of $1,500-2,000 depending on education and experience.
The NAO intern would assist the office in student recruitment, enquiry management, and marketing and communications activities during the fall recruitment season. The intern would also assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the NAO with lead and enquiry management
- Organizing NAO presence at recruitment fairs
- Promoting recruitment activities through the NAO website, social media channels
- Developing a newsletter for key partners
- Attending recruitment events such as fairs, seminars and student appointments as necessary
- Assistance with market research and writing reports
- Providing support for events including registration, logistics, management and follow up
- Other tasks as required by the NAO and/or based on intern interest
Requirements:
- Have completed at least three years of college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.2, or possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Have a strong attention to detail.
- Have the ability to work independently and in a small team.
- Have education and/or work experience in area such as higher education, international education, communications, media, business or a related field
- Be comfortable utilizing multiple technology platforms.
- Ability to travel throughout the US and Canada
- Have a genuine interest in an opportunity to work within marketing, communications, international education or alumni relations.
- Have studied in Australia, or have studied abroad in another destination.
