Position Description:
The University of New England (UNE) is seeking a Coordinator for the Global Education Program office. The Coordinator will be mostly based on the Biddeford, Maine Campus and will report to the Director for Global Education. The office operates under the Office of Global Affairs, and oversees UNE’s global programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff. The person selected for this position will assist with all office activities related to Education Abroad including, but not limited to:

· Marketing and social media for the Global Education Program, with particular focus on the UNE Tangier Campus
· Developing, deploying and managing marketing and recruiting strategies focused on increasing the Tangier Campus semester program enrollments with a focus on recruiting students from other universities

Colgate University announces its search for an Assistant Director of Off-Campus Study. Colgate is a highly selective liberal arts college in the picturesque central New York village of Hamilton. Colgate faculty lead approximately 20 international semester-long study groups annually and five to six three-week long extended study courses. The Assistant Director of Off Campus Study is responsible for effectiveness of all logistics related to assigned off-campus study programs and managing office IT processes in support of off-campus programs, reporting to the Director of International Programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position will be responsible for the following accountabilities and competencies:

Primarily responsible for the successful administration oversight of all faculty-lead Colgate study groups. Responsible for effectiveness of all logistics related to a portfolio of assigned off-campus study programs. Accountable for the effective management of department staff in executing logistical administration of remaining volume of faculty-led study groups.

Accountable for the creation of effective training materials for faculty directors, primarily regarding Colgate policies on budgets, stewardship of University resources and academic credit. As assigned, may be accountable for timely and accurate preparation of budgets on behalf of faculty directors. As required (e.g. when on-call) may be responsible for effective crisis management and response.

Responsible for the design of effective pre-departure orientation programs. Ensures students receive effective orientation and training, often via supervision of departmental staff delivery of programs.

Accountable for effective advising of students considering off-campus study programs, to include academic, administrative and logistical guidance. Accountable for the accuracy and efficiency of key administrative processes. Ensures department requirements are accurately represented to ITS with respect to administration of all off-campus study programs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:

– A master’s degree in International Education or related field plus 3-5 years’ experience in education abroad, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
– Knowledge of professional standards of conduct and code of ethics in the field.
– Experience in international program administration, including project coordination and oversight, staff supervision, budgeting, and risk management.
– Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive materials.
– Demonstrated commitment and the ability to articulate the values of a liberal arts education.
– Ability to travel and perform site visits.
– Demonstrated ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office and Google Drive/Docs effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Knowledge of a foreign language preferred.

Technical Competencies:
Program Management: Demonstrated understanding of a wide variety of international programs, both Colgate and Colgate approved programs. Ability to make site visits and to evaluate foreign sites, curriculum and risk factors to determine fit with the university’s international programs. Ability to work with faculty to plan all aspects of taking students abroad including curriculum proposals, course materials, managing budgets and logistics, advising on visas, etc.

Financial and Budget Management: Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and finances for a multi-million dollar portfolio of international programs using university financial systems. Demonstrated ability to manage billing/collection systems. Ability to manage day-to-day internal operations.

Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to use tools and manipulate data to manage and improve internal operations. Ability to analyze data to evaluate university programs.

Enrollment Management: Demonstrated ability to understand and apply academic requirements, policies and procedures for international programs. Ability to monitor program enrollments over time. Demonstrated ability to manage application processes and systems.

Advising: Demonstrated expertise in all university and externally offered programs. Ability to advise students regarding best programs to meet their needs. Ability to manage student affairs related to all international programs. Ability to design and deliver orientation programs to prepare students for study abroad experience.

Risk Management: Demonstrated expertise in university crisis management policies and procedures. Ability to advise students about known risks at assigned program sites. Ability to communicate with faculty director in the case of an emergency.

Job Title: Off-campus Study Advisor

Job Description: Lafayette College is seeking an Off-campus Study Advisor who will join the Office of International and Off-campus Education. Located about 70 miles from New York City and 60 miles from Philadelphia, Lafayette is a highly selective private undergraduate college with an enrollment of 2400. The Office of International and Off-campus Education offers a wide variety of academic off-campus programs that are intellectually challenging, culturally enriching and socially diverse. Of the approximately 450 students who study off-campus yearly, roughly half of them enroll in programs run directly by Lafayette (faculty-led short-term and semester-long programs) while the rest enroll in programs run by other American colleges or study abroad organizations. The Office also provides support and assistance to numerous not-for-credit off-campus programs that travel both domestically and abroad (e.g., Alternative Spring Break, athletic organizations, student clubs, grant-based projects, etc.). This is a regular full-time, twelve-month position in a high-volume and fast-paced work environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: With oversight from the Off-campus Study Director, the Off-campus Study Advisor primarily advises students on the full array of off-campus education options including semester (Lafayette-led and third-party programs), academic year, and short-term/summer programs. Specifically, the Off-campus Study Advisor’s duties include (but are not limited to):

– Conduct individual and group advising to students on academic and personal goals, program selection, health and safety issues, inter-cultural competence, etc.

– Lead large-group information or pre-departure sessions for students, faculty and/or parents (also in conjunction with campus-wide events, e.g., Admissions and Family Week-end events).

– Develop expertise and understanding of the College’s curriculum, degree requirements, and academic policies to ensure accurate and proactive advising to students.

– Administer online application/approval/admissions processes for programs, monitoring compliance with requirements and policies and maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records.

– Assist with batch and individual visa advising and processing; remain current with evolving immigration issues, policies, and regulations.

– Assist in program development and management/administration of Lafayette-led programs as needed.

– Work cooperatively with College faculty and other offices/units on campus.

– Assist with crisis management in the case of off-campus student emergencies.

– Assist with the collection and analysis of off-campus study data and with program and learning outcome assessment strategies.

– Organize promotional and recruitment strategies (especially for less popular or newer programs) by leveraging on traditional communication channels as well as new social medias.
– Develop handbooks and informational literature for students, faculty, parents, and other offices on best practices and cutting-edge issues pertaining to off-campus study.
– Assist with a variety of administrative tasks as needed, esp. during peak times: work in conjunction with office team, finance personnel and faculty to help develop program budgets, account for program-related financial transactions, process travel reimbursements, etc.
– Other special projects and emerging tasks as needed.
– Ability/willingness to work occasional evenings and week-ends.
Qualifications: We need an experienced and proficient individual who has the knowledge of principles and issues of study abroad advising, intercultural competency, and engaged learning. Specifically, we are looking for the following:
– Bachelor’s degree in international education or a related field (Master’s degree in international education, higher education or public administration or a related field strongly preferred).
– At least 2-3 years previous relevant experience in higher education, advising/mentoring college students (including STEM students), student programming.
– Demonstrated familiarity with international higher education systems and different program models for study abroad. Understanding of student development, outcome assessment.
– Previous site visit experience and familiarization with the major third-party study abroad providers.
– Familiarity with passport/visa advising and visa application processes for both domestic and international students; experience with US Department of State resources and requirements for travelers.
– Familiarity with the major professional organizations in the field of education abroad, basic understanding of the Forum on Education Abroad’s Code of Ethics and Principles of Good Practice.
– Excellent customer service and communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of situations, including both interpersonal and formal large-group settings. Ability to distill and convey information to multiple audiences (including students, parents, faculty, staff) and to work in a diverse environment.
– Outstanding organization skills and superb attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak times of the year. Keen problem-solving skills.
– Excellent technology skills; proficiency with Banner, Discoverer, previous extensive experience with StudioAbroad data management software and other web-based products for higher education administration (e.g., Maxient, Nolij, etc.). Proficiency with social media; at least a basic understanding of web design and video editing; proficiency with standard office software (word processing, database, presentation, spreadsheet, desktop publishing).
– Preferred experience living, studying or working abroad, and competency in a foreign language highly preferred.
