The Education Abroad Coordinator provides comprehensive education abroad support by helping students select and prepare for their experiences abroad, staying in touch with them while they’re abroad, and following up with them upon return. Responsibilities include advising students, parents, and faculty on UNL administrative policies, procedures and opportunities for education abroad; managing and assisting students with the application and scholarship processes; implementing UNL faculty-led programs; developing experiential learning opportunities (intern, research, service learning); assisting outgoing and incoming exchange students; developing educational and social programming for returnee students; and managing registration and credit transfer processes. This position is part of a team and reports to the Director of Education Abroad.

Minimum required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional work experience in education abroad, student affairs, academic advising, international engagement, or a related field. Master’s degree will substitute for the one year of professional work experience. Experience studying, living, working, or volunteering abroad required; extensive international travel for other purposes may be considered. Knowledge of education abroad programs, international exchanges, and global engagement opportunities required. Proficiency in Excel and Word software; excellent oral and written communication skills; effective listening and mentoring skills; and strong organization and planning skills essential.

Preferred qualifications

Prefer Master’s degree; public speaking experience; familiarity in Terra Dotta software; experience working with confidential information; and language proficiency other than English.
