Position: Application processing staff
Posted by: JET Office
Location: Washington D.C.
Type: Full-time

Overview:

The 2015 JET Program application period has begun and we expect another busy fall.  Last year several thousand applications were received and we need your help! Each year, the JET Program Office Application Processing Staff is a mix of JET alumni and Japanese citizens. It’s the most hectic time of year for the JET Office but we always have fun reminiscing about our JET days while we sort through the thousands of applications. It’s also a great opportunity to practice Japanese while you work, as we usually have several native Japanese speakers who work with us.

This is a great opportunity for new JET returnees who have not yet found full-time work and are looking to meet new people. For other JET alumni – even if you are already employed, if your job allows you to work part-time, working either the morning or afternoon shift only IS an option!

Japanese citizens and FOJs (Friends of JET) living in the DC area: we’d love for you to join us as well, so please let us know if you’re interested. We will need application processing staff this year from late-October through early-January 2015.

Conditions:

·         Hours: 9:30am-5:00pm (Lunch: 1:00-1:30pm)

·         Pay: $70/day or $10/hour

o    Even if you can only work the morning shift or the afternoon shift, we might be able to use your help; of course, individuals who can help full days, Monday-Friday are especially needed!

·         Orientation: Last week of October

Requirements:

·         You must be either ineligible to apply to the JET program or not intending to reapply for the program in the near future.

·         You must have proper authorization to seek employment in the United States.

·         You must have a strong command of English

·         You must also be capable sitting for long periods of time and doing repetitive work.

·         We are seeking enthusiastic and professional quick learners with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

How to Apply:

If you are interested, please send your resume and a short email to jetprogram@ws.mofa.go.jp including the following information by Monday, October 20:

1. Available start date

2. Weekly availability – which days per week and whether you can work full days or just mornings/afternoons
3. Whether you would be available for occasional overtime ($10/hr)
4. Any days you would need off (if you know them already)
5. Your cell phone number

Thank you very much, we look forward to hearing from you!
