The Office of Study Abroad at Brandeis University is looking for a Program Coordinator to serve as a professional on-site resource for students participating in the Brandeis-India Science Scholars Program. The Program Coordinator is specifically responsible for providing support in the areas of program coordination and delivery, academics, student support, and health and safety management. S/he must also display a willingness to work with a team of faculty, local staff, participating students, and visiting constituencies.

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position working December – May. The position will be based in Bangalore, India

Examples of Key Responsibilities:
*Program Coordination:*

• Coordinates all aspects of the on-site program in accordance with Brandeis policies and agreements.

• Manages the on-site relationship with host program partners and institutions.

• Manages on-site program finances and submits monthly expense reports.

• Assists with the management of student evaluation processes, including evaluations of the overall program and individual courses.

*Student Services:*

• Holds regular advising hours, confers with individual students, as necessary, and holds occasional group meetings.

• Coordinates and implements aspects of on-site student services including: visas and other student related legal matters, on-site program orientation, local transportation, cross-cultural information and training, cultural, social, and volunteer activities such as program excursions and field trips, housing, personal counseling and student adjustment, student morale and culture shock, medical and psychological problems, conflict resolution, and discipline.

*Health and Safety:*

• Obtains current and reliable information concerning health and safety risks of the local environment, including program-sponsored accommodations, events, and excursions.

• Provides orientation to participants upon arrival and as needed during the program including information on safety, health, legal, environmental, political, cultural and religious conditions, and appropriate emergency response measures.

• Provides appropriate advice and warning to participants during the program in order to help minimize risk and enhance individual safety.

• Secures appropriate medical and professional services and helps participants obtain the services they may need

• Communicates to participants applicable violations of code of conduct and the consequences of non-compliance. Subsequently, takes action when aware of violations by participants and communicates infractions to the Assistant Director, Brandeis-Led Study Programs.

*Academic:*

• Coordinates the academic program in cooperation with Brandeis University faculty, staff, and host program partners and institutions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree or current enrollment in Master’s Degree program strongly preferred)

• At least 1-3 years of experience working in education abroad programs, residence life, or student affairs-related discipline

• In-depth knowledge of student developmental theory and/or  intercultural development

• Demonstrated experience living abroad (familiarity with India is preferred)

• Strong cross-cultural competencies (position serves as a mediator between American and other cultures)

• Ability to professionally function (written/spoken) in a second language (familiarity with Hindi language is desired)

• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and StudioAbroad
