Position Overview:
The Office of Overseas Studies in the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking an experienced education abroad professional for the position of Study Abroad Advisor II (Student Programs Advisor II).
The Study Abroad Advisor is responsible for promoting study abroad opportunities; advising students on available programs; serving as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of study abroad and exchange programs; managing relationships with partner institutions; orientation and re-entry programming; collaborating with faculty members and academic advisors in curricular integration, academic planning, and articulation; coordinating services with other offices on campus; communicating with parents; participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; facilitating problem resolution; contributing to the unit’s risk management and responding to health and safety issues; collecting and analyzing data for various types of reports; conducting program reviews; and developing new programs. The person in this position will manage one or more USC-administered semester programs, take charge of the unit’s web presence, and as needed consult with departments and faculty members on the promotion and design of short-term faculty-led programs. The person in this position performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications: The minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in student program administration. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, five or more years of experience in education abroad advising and/or program coordination, one year or more studying and/or working abroad, a high level of proficiency in at least one foreign language, and experience with creating and managing web content.
