Position Overview:
The MidAtlantic Campus Relations Manager serves as the primary point of contact for CET in the MidAtlantic (the District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York – NAFSA Regions X and VIII). The Campus Relations Manager’s primary responsibilities are to develop and maintain effective relationships with key institutions, actively recruit students through existing and new study abroad channels, and assist CET in the implementation of marketing plans. The Campus Relations Manager reports directly to the CET Director of Institutional Relations. S/he also works collaboratively with CET Washington, DC staff and Campus RelationsManagers in other regions.
We are seeking candidates with extensive study abroad sales experience, the ability to work independently, strong organizational/administrative skills, and a commitment to study abroad. The ideal candidate will be both flexible and enthusiastic. S/he will work from the CET headquarters as well as telecommute from a home office in the Washington DC area. S/he will be required to make approximately 50 visits to campuses each year, a portion of which may involve overnight stays. We require the Campus Relations Manager to make a two-year commitment to the position.
CET Academic Programs is a study abroad organization based in Washington, DC that has been designing and administering innovative educational programs abroad since 1982. Originally “China Educational Tours,” CET began operations in Beijing, later expanding to other cities in China and then to other countries around the world. Today, CET offers semester and summer study abroad programs in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Tunisia and Vietnam, as well as short-term, customized programs worldwide. CET is known for high academic standards, innovative approaches to teaching and careful student management. CET programs integrate students into their overseas communities and lead them to create lasting relationships with their local hosts. CET is the only US provider to house its students with local roommates in each of its locations. As an environmentally conscientious organization, CET adopts locally appropriate measures in its centers worldwide to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to sustainable practices wherever possible. Staffed by over 50 full-time employees in the United States and overseas, CET currently sends around 1100 US students abroad annually.
Responsibilities
Campus Relations
• Actively manage existing CET relationships with study abroad staff and faculty at key institutions. Meet with staff and faculty to provide new information as needed.
• Expand upon CET’s network by developing and maintaining new relationships with faculty and staff.
• Work to gain official approval for CET programs at partner schools as appropriate.
• Serve as a liaison for other CET supporters in the region, including Advisory Board members and campus ambassadors.
• Assess institutional needs and recommend to the CET Director of Institutional Relations an effective strategy for developing stronger relationships with each campus in the region.
Student Recruiting
• Represent CET at key study abroad fairs.
• With the permission of study abroad staff and faculty, create additional opportunities to advise students about CET study abroad programs, including class visits, tabling, etc.
• Serve as the region’s liaison to students before they apply to a CET program. Respond to student inquiries and provide answers to student questions.
• Create events that provide alumni a vehicle for sharing their study abroad experiences with prospective students and faculty. Serve as a reentry advisor to graduates.
Other Marketing Assignments
• Promote CET and present at relevant conferences, including Regional NAFSA Conferences.
• Contribute to the production of CET’s promotional materials—including catalogs, flyers, advertisements, website, blog and various social media—as assigned.
• Develop effective campus presentations to promote CET programs to students and faculty.
• Conduct market research as assigned.
• With the Director of Institutional Relations, assess CET’s campus relations and recommend appropriate improvements.
Sales Administration

• Complete careful reports about campus visits and share them with the Washington, DC staff.
• Develop expertise about CET’s programs through regular interaction with both Washington, DC and overseas staff, and CET information resources
• Participate in staff retreats at least twice a year concerning program development, strategy and growth.
Requirements, in Order of Priority
• A Bachelor’s degree and study abroad experience, preferably in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Tunisia or Vietnam.
• Proven sales and marketing experience in the study abroad field.
• Excellent management and organization skills; the ability to work independently.
• Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills (essential).
• Ability to represent CET effectively with authority and poise to faculty, study abroad staff, overseas partners, parents and students.
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize information.
• Enthusiasm for frequent travel.
• Flexibility and a sense of humor
