Overview:

The Study Abroad Office at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a newly-created Marketing Coordinator position. This person will work in the main Study Abroad Office at Pitt, which is a constituent branch of the University Center for International Studies (UCIS). In 2013-14, Pitt sent over 1700 students abroad and we seek to increase this. The successful candidate will be a full-time member of our staff of 15 professionals.

Position Description:

The Study Abroad Marketing Coordinator is responsible for all of the external communication on the University of Pittsburgh campus as well as regional University of Pittsburgh campuses and other Universities in the area as it relates to program and office promotion. Among the duties are daily outreach efforts targeting specific markets or programs, the management of the study abroad alumni student group (PAW) and mentor/mentee programming, as well as the ongoing management of study abroad and program-related merchandise. S/he will also work directly with the program managers on the development and dissemination of print and electronic collateral for the promotion of the Study Abroad Office and Panther and Exchange Programs. S/he will also manage the entirety of the Study Abroad Office social media presence including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube as well as conduct market research on potential groups that are not participating in study abroad given current program offerings.

The Marketing Coordinator serves as the liaison for the parent and student visits to the Study Abroad Office as well as all events that occur on-campus for student groups, prospective students, and admitted students. S/he also serves as the content manager and deliverer of several mandatory study abroad-related meetings, helps to design the delivery system for such briefings, and works directly with the program managers to develop the overarching sales and marketing strategy for each of the Panther Programs and Exchange Programs. S/he will plan the major marketing events on-campus including but not limited to the Freshman Weekend Study Abroad Fair and Study Abroad Fair.

Education Required: Baccalaureate

Overall Related Experience Level Required: 1-2 years of experience. Knowledge of professional field in International Education is essential. One year of work in study abroad, preferably on the provider side is required.
