Overview:
The Center for International Programs Abroad at Emory University is now accepting applications for the Assistant Director position in the study abroad office of Emory College of Arts & Sciences.
- Oversees semester study abroad program processes and serves as semester program point person; manages all semester advising issues and student crises abroad.
- Supervises three semester Study Abroad Advisors and leads weekly study abroad advisor meetings.
- Ideally, would advise for semester programs in Africa and India, although program responsibilities could shift depending upon experience.
- Coordinates administration and budgets for Emory’s own semester programs in India and Spain.
- Coordinates the UPGRADE program, the Canright scholarship, and SIRE/IRES research grants, as well as experiential programs in the community.
- Coordinates CIPA’s academic department outreach for semester programs.
- Manages the Minority Outreach Initiative (MOI), in cooperation with one of the Advisors.
- Coordinates alumni initiatives with Emory’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
- Works with the CIPA Director on scholarship and travel grant allocations, as well as professional development and leadership engagement opportunities for Advisors.
- May manage new summer internship and student research initiatives as well as new Maymester programs.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in international education / education abroad in a university setting, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in related field. Experience studying, working, or living abroad. Supervisory, budgeting, and program management experience. Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and talent for multi-tasking. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with variety of constituents. Strong computer skills (Terra Dotta experience a plus). Second language experience preferred.
