Overview:
The University of Arkansas sends approximately 750 students abroad annually. The Office of Study Abroad administers all UA faculty-led summer programs, reciprocal exchanges, consortia programs, and facilitates programs offered by other U.S. universities and program providers. The Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange has 6 full time staff, a graduate assistant, and employs 2-4 peer advisors. It reports to the Graduate School and International Education. In Fall 2013, the Terra Dotta management system for study abroad was implemented along with the International Travel Risk management tool.
Job Duties:
The Study Abroad Coordinator is responsible for advising students and parents on all aspects of study abroad from program selection through their return to campus; administrative duties associated with the study abroad process using Terra Dotta; coordinating study abroad procedures with other support units across campus; managing the peer advisor program; organizing and delivering pre-departure orientation sessions; organizing the annual study abroad fair; working with outside program providers to develop program opportunities for students; representing the study abroad office at university-wide events, summer orientation, and information fairs; assessing quality of programs through student evaluations; assisting with programming for international education activities on campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent
3 years prior experience
formal study abroad experience
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field; plus two years of experience in program administration or related area.
