Overview:
ISEP is currently seeking a Part-Time Human Resources Manager located in our central office located in Arlington VA (10 minutes from Washington DC). Founded in 1979, ISEP is a nonprofit membership organization with over 300 partner institutions in 50 countries around the world. ISEP provides exchange and study abroad opportunities to over 3,400 students annually.
Position Summary:
The Human Resources manager manages the day-to-day administration of the ISEP’s human resource programs. This includes benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations and welfare, compensation and performance management programs, policies and procedures, and employee record maintenance.
Principal Accountabilities:
Benefits Administration
• Review benefits and wellness products on an annual basis
• Process and enroll employees in all benefit plans and process changes
• Provide clarification to employees on benefit plans, claims and eligibility
• Act as an interface with employees and providers to assist with problem resolution
• Maintain benefits enrollment information to assist the Accounting department with invoice reconciliation
• Maintain regular contact with vendors and broker to ensure efficient timely processing of benefits claims and issues.
• Ensure all required reports are processed in a timely manner
Recruiting
• Responsible for initiating recruitment cycle
• Draft advertisements and post open positions at appropriate recruiting sources
• Serve as a resource for hiring managers in the recruiting process
• Assist in initial screening of resumes and participate in interview process
• Coordinate interviews and provide interview assistance to hiring managers.
• Draft offer letters in accordance with ISEP standards and policies
• Maintain documentation of all recruitment activity
Employee Relations
• Coordinate orientation for newly hired staff with all relevant departments to fully explain ISEP’s overall structure, programs etc. and conduct the part of the orientation that describes benefits programs, policies, and ISEP operational procedures.
• Provide clarification of policies and procedures to ISEP staff
• Provide guidance to managers in addressing employee performance concerns
• Assist management in developing a positive work environment by identifying needs and developing programs or policies
• Assist in developing and conducting employee development and welfare events and programs. These may include training programs, brownbag lunches, and staff functions.
• Act as an ombudsman for the organization for employees to obtain information and bring organizational concerns to the attention of management.
• Identify employee development needs
Compensation and Performance Management
• Coordinate the annual review process to include providing instructions to managers, reviewing assessments, tracking completion, and maintaining files
• Provide assistance to managers in assessing and documenting employee performance
• Review the competitiveness of the organization’s pay program
Employee Records
• Maintain and update personnel files with respect to new hire documentation, benefits, taxes, performance reviews, personnel actions, and the like
Requirements:
Education: BS in Human Resources Management or Business
Experience: 3 to 5 years experience in an HR Generalist Role, preferably at a management level and at least 2 years managing recruitment process. Nonprofit experience a plus.
Skills: Strong Communication Skills. Candidate must be able to work independently and have strong knowledge of all local, state, and federal legislation affecting the organization. Successful candidate will also be able to enhance/improve organizational processes. Performance Management and
Conflict Resolution experience is essential.
