Overview:
The University of Vermont seeks a talented study abroad advisor to join our team. Reporting to the assistant director for study abroad in the Office of International Education, the study abroad advisor has the following general responsibilities: Advise UVM students about study, internship and service-learning opportunities abroad; serve as primary point of contact for students navigating university and government processes related to preparing for study abroad; organize and facilitate events and programs, liaise with campus and off-site partners; and maintain administrative records.
Main Duties:
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), study abroad, and risk management support for faculty-led courses and student activities abroad. This dynamic, growing department consists of employees and a leader who value integrity; respect; positive attitudes; collaboration balanced with individual autonomy and initiative; devotion to outstanding customer service; and a sense of humor. This is an 11 month position with full benefits package. Off the month of July.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and one to three years experience advising students for international study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective interpersonal, public speaking, listening and written communication skills. Effective organizational and administrative skills, and attention to detail. Experience living, working or studying abroad and a demonstrated sensitivity for and understanding of other cultures. Demonstrated aptitude for learning computer data management and work flow systems.
