Overview:
The Office of International Study Programs seeks a qualified candidate to organize and promote its programs and to advise NU students throughout the study abroad process. The Coordinator advises students on study abroad opportunities (faculty led and traditional), the application process, and assists with coordinating program logistics at home and abroad. The position also assists with developing and organizing information sessions, orientations, re-entry workshops, and other study abroad-related events for prospective applicants and study abroad alumni. This person will collaborate with other offices, clubs, faculty, and international partners to promote OISP’s programs and services, maintain scholarship resources, and oversee office collaborations with various student groups and student workers to provide peer support for NU students. The Coordinator will be expected to advise all programs; however, will be assigned specific countries for which they will be the primary advisor for all aspects of the advising and application process, for students and faculty with faculty led programs. Some evening and weekend events will be required for extended evening hours to accommodate the NU coop students. Additionally, the Coordinator will participate in domestic travel for conferences and international travel for site visits, as necessary.
Qualifications:
• Successful candidates will have a minimum of 2 years experience advising, studying or working abroad; master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management and study abroad Cr Ms; excellent organizational, interpersonal and written skills; strong attention to detail; the ability to multitask and learn new software systems, meet deadlines and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be comfortable meeting and communicating with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds,
• Experience working with faculty is desirable.
