Position: Program Manager

Overview:

The Program Manager serves within the International Programs Office (IPO), part of the Daytime MBA Office. The Program Manager reports to the Director of the IPO, who reports to the Associate Dean of the Daytime MBA program. The Program Manager is responsible for the operational implementation of the IPO’s programs and projects, advising on the department’s operational strategy both in keeping with the department’s mission to increase global reach and enhancing the overall student experience, as well as in support of the Daytime MBA’s internationalization agenda.

Program Management and Main Responsibilities:
-Counsel and support Daytime MBA international students through
acclimation and transition process, leveraging internal and external
partners and resources to improve the experience of all international students.
-Manage Daytime MBA Exchange programs, both incoming and outgoing, and support other department programs and projects to include, but not limited to, developing and refining program content, program promotion, student advising, learning outcomes and data tracking, and program collaboration with exchange partner institutions and external vendors.
-Participate in student engagement strategy to deepen collaboration and strengthen alliance with student leaders on department programming and mission for improved integration, awareness, and promotion as part of leadership’s strategy to increase awareness and participation in existing international opportunities.
– Re-engineer current processes and procedures, leveraging resources and utilizing internal and external relationships, to streamline work and operational efficiency.
– Conduct annual office planning process using excel-based tracking calendar as well as annual update of all department’s program policies and guidelines.
– With the Director of the IPO, manage PIM membership including
representation at annual PIM Meeting, membership compliance, and support for PIM-level initiatives in aligning with the Daytime MBA’s internationalization agenda.
– Refine communication and marketing strategy as appropriate to align with Daytime MBA communication strategy, updating procedures and online resources, providing guidance to stakeholders as necessary.
– Collaborate with other departments as needed and share required data as appropriate.
– Report best practices and statistics on learning outcomes and data tracking, both internally at Duke and at professional conferences when appropriate.
– Represent the IPO at the annual NAFSA conference.
– Supervise graduate assistants as needed and assist lead faculty when necessary.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
– 5 years of professional experience in a complex environment,
preferably academic.
– 2 years minimum of international program management experience in higher education.
Skills:
– In-depth multicultural expertise (acquired by living/working abroad
for at least 6 months) and ability to communicate with many different cultures.
– Strong understanding of J-1 U.S. federal regulations and work
authorization processes, with some understanding of F-1 regulations.
– Basic understanding of Accounting and HR.
– Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and exercise sound judgment and discretion in a fast-paced, dynamic, and international environment.
– Very organized, ethical, and professional
– Ability to develop, build, and maintain international partnerships and collaborate with colleagues and student leaders for successful delivery of the department’s daily operations.
– Using project management methodology, plan work and prioritize at all times.
– Expected to juggle many responsibilities and priorities simultaneously while refining processes toward continuous improvement in a resource-constrained environment.
– Strong communication and presentation skills required
– Deliver high quality customer service for the experience of
approximately 1,000 MBA students
– Outstanding office management, organizational, and project management skills are required.
