Overview:
The Program Director plans, directs, and overseas operations of the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program and Alumni Association, as well as the Cultural Vistas Fellowship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program/Departmental Management
- Conducts program/departmental operations to ensure tasks are optimized
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for status of budgets as assigned; report any discrepencies in a timely manner
- Ensures high quality and consistent customer service to all clients
- Supports and exhibits communicative model of management including but not limited to:
- Gathering, synthesizing, and communicating information from staff in the department to supervisor
- Providing regular updates to staff on information from supervisor about goals and direction in departments and organization
- Establishing and maintaining transparency; ensuring all staff under your supervision are provided with information in a consisten and timely manner
Specific to:
Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship
- Oversees high profile professional exchange for 15 American fellows going to Germany from the beginning of application process to completion
- Provides direct and on-going client relationship management through education, assistance, and proactive communication
- Oversees all marketing activities in collaboration with the Marketing and University Relations Departments: events, presentation, trips, job fairs, production of marketing materials, direct mailings, and online marketing
- Oversees the entire selection process: including annual update of online application, reading all applications, and pre-selecting, organizing final selection meetings
- Organizes and conducts annual orientation and evaluation meetings together with representatives from the Robert Bosch Foundation
- Ensures smooth coordination and monitoring of fellows’ language instruction
- Supervises program support staff
Robert Bosch Foundation Alumni Association (RBFAA):
- Oversees coordination of program activities of the RBFAA, including the annual meeting, regional events, and other events as determined
- Ensures that alumni database, website, and social media sites are being maintained by staff
- Supervises RBFAA coordinator
Cultural Vistas Fellowship Program:
- Oversees professional exchange for approx. 12 American fellows from the beginning of hte applicaiton process to completion
- Provides direct and on-going client relationship management through education, assistance, and proactive communication
- Oversees all marketing activities in collaboration with the Marketing and University Relations Departments: events, presentations, trips, job fairs, production of marketing materials, direct mailings, and online marketing
- Organizes the entire selection process: including annual update of online applicaiton, reading all applications, and conducting interviews
- Maintains regular contact with partner organizaitons regarding placement process and on-program support
- Organizes and conducts annual orientation and evaluation meetings as well as virtual seminars
Leadership and Professional Development
- Supports ongoing professional development of staff; maintains understanding of professional development needs and interests; actively seeks out opportunities to address needs
- Exhibits committment and support towards developing and maintaining ways to expose staff to other programs and to engage staff with other programs/projects under the scope of your program/department
- Effectively delegates appropriate assignments that may be completed by other staff members; properly monitor assignments to completion and provide feedback and appreciation
- Manages staff performance management (formally and informally) in the following:
- Conflict resolution (proactively addressing issues between parties)
- Mentorship (providing examples of best practices in various performance areas)
- Understanding diverse work and learning styles and respecting them, including intergenerational differences
- Consistency (ensuring the performance of each staff member is reviewed in a consistent manner)
Strategic Planning
- Contributes to strategic development of program/department within Cultural Vistas, including, but not limited to:
- Establishing a critical eye for maintaining and improving operational efficiency
- Maintaining organizational fluency in regard to the functions, needs and operations of all of the programs that Cultural Vistas implement
- Developing an outlook of how to grow and develop the program within the overall context of the growth and development of Cultural Vistas

- Expertise with program planning, project design and implementation, and budget process and evaluation, with the demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple processes and projects

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite products. CRM experience and proficiency a plus.
- Adobe Creative Suite and Content Management System (CMS) website experience a plus
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus; International Relations, Business, Education, or related degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years previous experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Minimum of five years professional experience in program management, cultural exchange, or international relations required.
- Previous work or academic experience in Germany required.
