As the locus for all the University’s global engagements, the University Office of Global Programs (UOGP) is an area of opportunity for those seeking a career in the field of international education. UGOP is seeking an International Sponsor Relations Manager to provide leadership support for Penn State relations with international governments, agencies and corporations which sponsor international student enrollment. The International Sponsor Relations Manager will continue the cultivation of current external relationships with ninety plus international sponsoring entities while always actively recruiting new international sponsors. This position requires advanced international cultural competencies, including but not limited to protocol communication with foreign governments and personnel, proven experience with successful financial negotiations and the ability to increase the overall international student sponsored population.
This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master’s degree or professional degree is preferred. The successful candidate must have previous supervisory experience, significant international business experience, a record of recognized professional achievement and the ability to work with broad constituents including academic leaders, corporate executives, non-profit leadership, international governments, and their dignitaries. This individual should possess excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills in addition to proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and learning advocacy tools. This position requires significant domestic travel to local embassies and consulates and occasional international travel. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
