Summary of Responsibilities:
The Academic Director manages the entire instructional program for Academic English at the University IEP Center.
As the Academic Director, you will:
- Manage overall student academic experience, from initial student testing and placement to graduation. Ensure student academic success and high customer satisfaction with instruction provided.
- Manage and build a high-performing instructional team, providing instructors with consistent professional development opportunities. Teach as necessary, depending on enrollment volume.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of the curriculum and program.
- Act as the contact person for all outside parties and maintain good relations with the host university.
- Manage the center’s resources and budget.
- Perform other administrative duties related to the management of the IEP center and its staff.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant field (e.g., TESOL, Applied Linguistics)
- Minimum 3 years of adult English language teaching experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience managing high-performing instructional teams
- Customer focus and passion for fostering academic success; sensitivity to other cultures
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving and decision-making
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to work as a team and deal with potential conflict
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities at once
- Skilled at using and leveraging new technologies
