Overview:
The communications manager will oversee the ongoing development of the PIIRS website, social media sites, and, in particular, an organization-wide events calendar, in cooperation with the PIIRS web developer.
Additionally, the communications manager may be asked to participate in a comprehensive and inclusive communications strategy for “International Princeton,” which may include the development of a portal that encompasses university-wide internationalization efforts.
Responsibilities:
– Build and maintain strong relationships with PIIRS affiliated programs and other campus offices (including the Office of Communications, the Development Office, the Office of International Programs, the Office of the Vice Provost for International Initiatives) to raise the visibility of PIIRS on campus, nationally, and internationally, and to promote the development of the university’s efforts in internationalization
– With the PIIRS web developer, manage and coordinate the design and content of the PIIRS web site and its sub-sites, ensuring that all material is clear, well-presented, and current – Pioneer PIIRS’ social media presence
– Manage the creation, production, and dissemination of printed publications for publicity, development, and administrative purposes, such as program brochures, a semiannual newsletter, annual report, and assorted event materials (e.g., posters, advertisements)
– Manage a photographic archive for print and electronic materials
– Create and coordinate production schedules and build and maintain ongoing relationships with both on-campus and freelance graphic designers, printers, photographers, videographers
– Develop and place articles about PIIRS, its faculty, students, programs, and events for web and print publications and for posting on the university’s home page and in other university and community media outlets
– Write and distribute press releases for local and national media
Essential Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or marketing
– Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, CMS edit functionalities, communications technologies, and social media
– Ability to research and draft basic written promotional materials such as press releases, newsletters, and advertisements for a variety of print and paper publications
– Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
– Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment partnering with faculty, staff, and students across campus
